Identify the issue first

What kind of network do AI tools need?

Reachability, account eligibility, and connection stability are separate things to check.

Region: Is the tool available there?

Some AI services determine eligibility based on your exit IP, account region, organization settings, or payment details. A VPN provides a network route; it cannot change a tool's own eligibility requirements. Before choosing an exit location, check the service's official list of supported regions and account requirements. If that list changes, follow the tool provider's latest guidance.

Exit route: Do requests use the same one?

The sign-in page, verification page, and chat may use different domains. If split tunneling misses one, requests may leave through different routes, increasing the chance of repeated verification. Shared exits may also be affected by a provider's risk controls, so a region name alone cannot predict the experience. When troubleshooting, keep the same exit route and test the complete flow first.

Connection stability: Does the response finish?

AI responses are usually streamed as they are generated, so loading the page is only the first step. Reconnecting, local sleep, network changes, or timeouts in a proxy layer can interrupt the output. Rather than relying on an isolated speed test, check whether the response completes, files finish uploading, and you can continue interacting when the task is done.

Tool × route requirements

This table suggests what to check; it does not guarantee availability. IEPL, relay, and direct connections describe how a route is set up, not whether a tool will consistently accept it. Test in your actual environment rather than choosing by route label alone.

Regional availability and authentication requirements can change. If you see a clear eligibility message, check the official documentation instead of repeatedly switching routes.

Text chat: Check whether responses finish

Try a typical prompt and watch for the response to start, stream to completion, and accept a follow-up. If the first part appears quickly but the response often stops later, the streaming connection may be at fault. If the response completes but takes a while, model processing time may be the cause; don't assume the route is to blame.

Generated assets: Test resource requests too

Tools such as Midjourney involve task submission, status updates, and asset loading. If the tool's home page loads but generated images do not, check whether the asset domains are covered by your proxy rules. Don't assume an asset-loading issue means your account is invalid, and don't submit tasks repeatedly as a substitute for troubleshooting.

Sign-up and login: Keep your environment consistent

Confirm eligibility before getting started

Read the target AI tool's official sign-up requirements, supported regions, and account terms first. A tool may require an email, organization authorization, or other eligibility criteria; these are separate from how you create a KekeVPN account. KekeVPN requires no email address; create an account with a username and password. This does not mean third-party tools have the same requirements.

Before signing in, choose an exit route that meets the tool's regional requirements. Keep the same network during authorization redirects, verification, and return to the tool. If your browser has a proxy extension, check how it works with your system client to avoid forwarding requests twice or sending them directly by mistake.

Repeated verification doesn't always mean a route problem

Browser cookie restrictions, expired sessions, changes in device environment, and the tool provider's risk controls can all trigger verification. Check the on-screen message first, then make sure browser settings aren't blocking cookies or scripts before assessing whether the network is involved. Avoid repeated refreshes, creating accounts over and over, or resubmitting the same verification.

If the service explicitly says your region isn't supported, check your current exit route and account eligibility first. If it says your account is restricted, contact the tool through its official channels. A network route cannot restore a restricted account or replace an appeal to the platform. When sharing screenshots for troubleshooting, hide account details, session identifiers, and other sensitive information.

Web and API: Check each request path separately

Browsers typically use the system proxy or their own proxy settings, while API requests are sent by an SDK, runtime, or process. A successful web chat only confirms that the browser's route works; it doesn't prove that the CLI, editor, container, or remote environment uses the same exit route.

CLI / SDK

Check that the process reads proxy variables

Check the SDK and runtime's official proxy support. Some programs read HTTP_PROXY, HTTPS_PROXY, or ALL_PROXY; others require explicit configuration in the proxy client. Don't assume a variable works just because its name matches. Also check whether NO_PROXY excludes the target domain. Restart the relevant processes after changing the environment, then use redacted logs to confirm the request path.

IDE / Cursor / Copilot

Separate the editor, extension, and terminal

The editor's network settings, extension runtime, and integrated terminal may not share proxy settings. First confirm that authentication completes, then check chat and autocomplete. In remote development, an extension may run on the remote host; an active local client does not mean remote requests use that route. For certificate errors, check the trust chain rather than disabling certificate verification as a long-term workaround.

CI / containers / remote environments

Check where the task actually runs

Proxy settings in your local terminal are not automatically passed to a CI runner. A localhost address inside a container usually points to the container itself, not the host's proxy. Check the runner's permitted outbound access, DNS, and proxy reachability, then run a small, routine test. Store credentials in the platform's secret manager, not in repositories, build artifacts, or public logs. Don't expose the proxy as a public relay.

For streaming API calls, also check timeout settings in your application server, reverse proxy, and SDK. If an intermediate layer buffers responses, users may not see incremental output for a long time even while the model is working. Check the official documentation for buffering behavior and streaming reads, and set reasonable cancellation and retry logic to avoid extra usage from repeated tasks.

Common issues and troubleshooting steps

The home page loads, but your prompt keeps waiting?

First check whether the same tool's static pages and chat requests use the same exit route, then check the tool's status and your account credits. If the issue occurs while the response is streaming, see whether it coincides with a network switch, sleep, or a missing split-tunnel rule. Keep the prompt and client unchanged, adjust only one network setting, and compare the results to narrow down the cause.

Claude or ChatGPT keeps asking you to verify?

Keep the exit route unchanged and check cookies, browser extensions, and session status. Frequent verification may also reflect how the tool evaluates an exit route or account environment; it doesn't necessarily mean the connection is too slow. If you see an explicit account or region notice, check eligibility against the official rules instead of repeatedly switching regions.

Your browser works, but Cursor or the CLI can't connect?

Check the process sending the request. Verify proxy settings for the editor, extensions, SDK, and remote environment, and confirm that the program picked up any updated environment variables after it started. Then check certificate trust, DNS, and bypass lists. If the network is connected but the response is a permissions error, check the tool account or project settings.

Responses keep cutting out. Do you need a different plan?

First distinguish low remaining data from an unstable connection. Check the client connection, local network, and tool status, then compare routes using the same task. A plan with more data won't fix model processing, application timeouts, or account issues. Identify the cause before deciding whether to change your data allowance.

Images, files, or generated results won't load?

Check whether only asset requests are failing, then verify the route used for the relevant resource domains. File-size limits, format restrictions, tool processing failures, and network transfer errors need to be diagnosed separately. When contacting support, include the tool name, stage, platform, and error message; don't attach private file contents or real access credentials.

Choose a route for your use case, then check data

Region first, route next, connection stability last

Start with the regions currently supported by your target tool. After choosing an exit route, complete a login, a regular chat, a file transfer, or an editor request. IEPL can be one option when cross-border route quality matters; compare relay and direct connections against your own local network too. A route type alone can't guarantee that a tool will accept an exit, so test it in real use.

For a fair comparison, keep the tool, device, and task the same, and check complete tasks at your usual times. Keep the exit route consistent during work sessions, and save unsent work before switching routes. KekeVPN offers 90+ countries and 180+ routes; available exit locations and routes are shown in the client.

Choose a billing option based on your workload

Monthly plans: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, or ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on your activation date; mid-cycle upgrades are prorated by the remaining days. Data packs: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, or ¥658/3000GB. Use them as needed; they never expire.

Text chats, image generation, file uploads, and development tasks use different amounts of data, so a fixed number of chats won't give you a reliable estimate. Track your actual usage, then choose a monthly plan or data pack. Use on unlimited devices at the same time. Supports Windows / macOS / iOS / Android / Linux. Payment methods include Alipay / WeChat Pay / USDT, with a 7-day refund policy.

Check the exit route against the tool's requirements, then compare performance on real tasks. Network access and AI tool account eligibility should always be assessed separately.
